A tube has been inserted into your small intestine or replaced.
The small intestine is the first part of the intestine, after the stomach. The nutrients from food are absorbed in the small intestine. The tube in your small intestine was inserted or changed through your artificial stomach opening. A laparoscopy was carried out at the same time in order to get the inner end of the tube in the right place. A laparoscopy involves inserting a tube with a camera through the oesophagus into the top of the small intestine. Instruments such as forceps and scissors can be pushed through at the front of the tube.
This is a special tube system. A tube in the small intestine is usually a feeding tube, through which you can receive food and fluids.
