5-882.8:
Other operations on the mamma: Operations on the nipple: Plastic reconstruction of the areola
A new areola was formed on your breast.
The breast is made up of fatty tissue, connective tissue and the mammary gland. Milk is produced in the mammary gland during and after pregnancy so that the child can be fed. Milk from the mammary gland passes through the milk ducts to the nipple and from there outwards. Surrounding the nipple is the areola, an area that is normally slightly darker than the surrounding skin.
Skin can be taken from another part of the body to form the areola. This skin is then reinserted on the breast.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
