OPS-Code 5-411.6:

Operations on spleen and bone marrow: Transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells from the bone marrow: Re-transplant during the same hospitalization

You have been given blood stem cells from bone marrow more than once.

Stem cells are cells that can develop into different types of cells. Blood cells develop from the blood stem cells. In adults, blood stem cells are mainly found inside some bones. From there the mature blood cells are released into the blood. A small amount of blood stem cells also enters the blood. The bone marrow is inside bone.

If blood stem cells do not work after the transplant, stem cells may need to be transplanted more than once.
