1-699.2:

Incisional and intraoperative diagnostic endoscopy: Other diagnostic endoscopy by puncture, incision and intraoperatively: Amnioscopy

Your amniotic fluid was examined using amnioscopy.

When the pregnancy begins, the amniotic sac containing the amniotic fluid develops in the womb. The amniotic sac surrounds the child. There is a canal in the cervix that connects the vagina to the inside of the uterus. The orifice at the end of this canal is called the mouth of the womb (ostium uteri). The mouth of the womb is visible during an internal examination of the vagina.

The endoscopic examination involves a thin tube being passed into the mouth of the womb. This allows the amniotic fluid in the lower part of the amniotic sac to be viewed, enabling the color of the amniotic fluid, in particular, to be assessed.
