You have undergone an endoscopic examination of the bile ducts.

The gallbladder is in the top right part of the abdomen below the liver. The liver produces bile. The bile flows through bile ducts to the gallbladder and is stored there. When needed, the bile flows through another bile duct to the intestine. There, the bile helps to digest fats.

The endoscopic examination involves a thin tube being passed and advanced into the bile ducts through an incision in the skin. There is a camera at the top of the tube. This camera is used to transmit images from inside the body to the outside during the examination. In this way, the inside of the bile ducts can be viewed and assessed for any changes.
