The shoulder blade is a flat bone. It is in the upper part of the back, to the right and left of the spine. As part of the shoulder joint, the shoulder blade connects the upper body to the arm. The shoulder blade is involved in many movements in the shoulder area. The collarbone (clavicle) is a bone at the front of the ribcage. It runs from the ribcage to the shoulder and joins the shoulder blade at the shoulder.
