OPS-Code 8-148.0:

Other forms of therapeutic catheterization and cannulation: Therapeutic drainage of other organs and tissue: Peritoneal space

A tube was inserted into your abdominal cavity.

The abdominal organs are located in the abdominal cavity. The inside of the abdominal cavity is covered by a thin membrane. This thin membrane also surrounds all the organs in the abdomen. The organs can move against each other thanks to this thin membrane.

The tube can be used to drain any fluid, blood or pus that has collected. The tube is inserted via a small incision in the skin and positioned in the relevant location. The tube is connected to a receptacle and it can remain in your body for a few days.

Additional indicator

If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
