OPS-Code 8-019:
Administration of medication and nutrients: Intrathecal and intraventricular administration of medication without infusion pumps
You were given medication via your cerebrospinal fluid.
There are cavities with cerebrospinal fluid in the brain, around the brain and around the spinal cord. Among other things, the cerebrospinal fluid cushions the brain and spinal cord during knocks and also nourishes the brain cells.
Medication can be given via the cerebrospinal fluid at various sites on the body. In the lower part of the spine, drugs can be given via the cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds the spinal cord. It is also possible to deliver medication via cerebral ventricles, which are cavities in the brain that are filled with cerebrospinal fluid.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
