5-796.2b:
Repositioning of fracture and luxation: Open repositioning of a multiple fragment fracture in small bones: By plate: Metacarpals
One or more of your metacarpal bones were broken and were surgically stabilized using devices.
The hand is made up of a lot of small bones and joints. The hand can be divided into 3 sections. The wrist (carpus) is directly connected to the forearm. Then comes the metacarpus and then the individual fingers. The metacarpus forms the palm of the hand and the back of the hand. It consists of the longish metacarpal bones. There is one metacarpal bone for each finger.
When the affected metacarpal bones were broken, several fragments were created.
You had an operation to have the fragments returned to their normal position and put back together. Your metacarpal bones were then stabilized using one or more plates.
