OPS-Code 5-791.dg:

Repositioning of fracture and luxation: Open repositioning of a simple fracture in the shaft area of a long bone: By external fixator with internal osteosynthesis: Shaft of femur

You have broken your femur (thighbone) and had an operation on it.

The femur has an upper, middle and lower section. The central section of the femur is long and straight. You broke the long, straight section of your femur.

You had an operation to bring the broken parts of your femur back together and put them into their normal position. The break site was stabilized using a special fixation system and other special aids.

To stabilize bones or parts of bones, various aids can be used. They can be made of metal or plastic, for example. For the special holding system you have had metal pins or screws inserted into your femur through the skin from outside. These were then joined to one another outside the body using a holding system.

Additional indicator

If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.

  • L: Left
  • R: Right
  • B: Both sides
