Repositioning of fracture and luxation: Open repositioning of a simple fracture in the shaft area of a long bone: By fixed angle plate/condylar plate: Shaft of tibia
The long, straight section of your shinbone (tibia) was broken and required surgery.
There are 2 bones in the lower leg, the tibia and the fibula. The tibia is on the inside of the leg. The fibula is on the outside of the leg. Both bones in the lower leg have an upper, middle and lower section. The tibia and fibula both have a long, straight section in the middle.
You had an operation to bring the broken parts of your tibia back together and put them into their normal position. Your shinbone (tibia) was stabilized using one or more plates.
The plate is angled or curved. One part sits on the long, straight section of the shinbone (tibia). The other part is angled or curved so that it properly fits the shape of the shinbone (tibia).
