Repositioning of fracture and luxation: Open repositioning of a simple fracture in the shaft area of a long bone: By fixed angle plate/condylar plate: Shaft of femur

You have broken your femur (thighbone) and had an operation on it.

The femur has an upper, middle and lower section. The central section of the femur is long and straight. You broke the long, straight section of your femur.

You had an operation to bring the broken parts of your femur back together and put them into their normal position. The break was stabilized using one or more plates.

The plate is angled or curved. One part sits on the long, straight section of the femur. The other part is angled or curved so that it properly fits the shape of the femur.
