Incision, excision and resection of stomach: Gastrostomy: Release and removal of a buried PEG bumper: Endoscopic
The internal bumper of a tube in your artificial stomach opening had grown stuck and was loosened.
The stomach is located in the upper left abdomen. The stomach stores food and breaks it down further. Harmful pathogens are also killed by gastric acid in the stomach. The stomach thus prepares the food for digestion in the intestines.
This is a special tube system. For example, a tube in an artificial stomach opening can be a feeding tube, through which you can receive food and fluids. Sometimes a tube is also inserted so that fluids can be drained from the stomach.
A tube such as a feeding tube is attached using an inner and outer synthetic bumper. The inner bumper sits in the stomach. In your case this bumper had become buried in your stomach wall, and now it has been released using a laparoscopy. A laparoscopy involves inserting a tube with a camera through the oesophagus to the stomach. Instruments such as forceps and scissors can be pushed through at the front of the tube.
