5-225.1:
Operations on the paranasal sinuses: Plastic reconstruction of the paranasal sinuses: Reconstruction of the anterior wall of the frontal sinus
You have had surgery to restore the anterior wall of your frontal sinus.
The frontal sinus is part of the paranasal sinuses. The paranasal sinuses are air-filled cavities in the skull. They are each connected to the nasal cavity via an opening that forms the inside of the nose. The paranasal sinuses are lined internally with mucous membrane. There are four different paranasal sinuses. The frontal sinus is above the eyebrows behind the forehead.
The operation involved treating bone defects in the anterior wall of your frontal sinus. If possible, the original bone is restored. For this purpose, for example, individual pieces of bone are put back together with plates or wires. Bone material from another part of the body or artificial material can also be used.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
