ICD-Code M68.08: Synovitis and tenosynovitis in bacterial diseases classified elsewhere Other

Bacteria have inflamed tendons or synovial membranes in your head, neck or upper body.

When your tendons are inflamed, your tendon sheaths can also be affected. Tendons are made up of very firm connective tissue. Tendons attach muscles to bones. A tendon sheath is a covering for the tendon. It cushions the tendon and contains a small amount of fluid. This reduces friction between the tendon and its surroundings. Joints are encased in a joint capsule. The synovial membrane lines the inside of the joint capsule.

An inflammation of tendons or synovial membranes can be painful. It may also be that you are no longer able to move the affected area of your body properly.

  • A: Excluded diagnosis
  • L: Left
  • R: Right
  • B: Both sides
