ICD-Code I31.1: Chronic constrictive pericarditis
There have been changes in your pericardium that are constricting your heart.
The pericardium is a layer of connective tissue surrounding the heart. There is some fluid in the pericardium (heart sac). So the heart is able to move inside this lining.
Prolonged inflammation has led to changes in your pericardium. These changes can be, for example, adhesions or hardening of the pericardium. Because of these changes, your heart can no longer function properly. This can make you exhausted more quickly or get breathless.
